The most beautiful cemetery I will ever see. The atmosphere is so somber and yet peaceful. We walked an hour and barely covered 40% of the place. The graves are stunning to look at. There’s also so many different kind of flora and birds like eagles and turkeys you don’t see in public places. There’s a tower from where you can see the Boston skyline which closes at 6 pm sadly we missed it. The place closes at 8 pm. There’s no picnicing or pets allowed. It’s a must see in Boston even if cemeteries are not your thing!
You don't expect yourself to be raving about a cemetery to your family and friends, but after a leisurely stroll through the Mount Auburn Cemetery and Arboretum you'll be doing just that.
Stop by the chapel at the gates for a map of resting places of famous/historical people and a sense at the scope of the place. You could spend most of your day here if you wanted.
A quiet walking spot despite its proximity to the busy city. The cemetery has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975 and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2003.
Very calm and beautiful area
Very very old graves/tombstonea, found one dating 1700s love the various trees and labeling
Foilage is ok but theres quite of variety of plant, even stumbled by a honey bee
Tower is cool, oversees the city
Free entry and parking not to bad (have to park on the road paths)
Beautiful place to walk, I have come here twice and have really enjoyed myself both times. The grounds are extremely well kept and there is a large variety of wildlife throughout the cemetery and it's just really peaceful. Feels like you escape the city for a little bit and it is really quite wonderful.
One of the most spectacular tours you can take in the Boston area. This cemetery is gorgeous in every season! It's a great walk or hike and of course it offers a ton of history. This is an arborist mecca!
